i found using synthetic helped a little
This sucker is clunky. I especially have trouble between 1st and 2nd. I always get a racking of gears when changing between those two. And, of course, going into first is always a grind. Really sucks when you're coming to a stop and trying to shift down.
Anyone have any tips that they've found to be beneficial to reduce all this grinding, besides transmission fluid?

Two things that made a BIG difference on my Firebolt were synthetic oil in the primary and a proper clutch adjustment.
Synthetic and steel toe boots. ;)
Use firm precise foot movements, blip throttle slightly, match rpms - shifting into first, make sure idle rpm is low from start, wait a few secs for it to drop.
1-2 - 34
2-3 - 45
3-4 - 55
4-5 - 65
Those are my shift points - most shift way too low.
Tips for clutch adjustment
1)Tie handle down
2)Loosen cable adjuster about 5 turns - loosen primary adjuster the same
3) loosen arm bolts
4)open her up and get to screw - have new cover gasket on hand - bike level - wood block under kick stand - careful - bike not so stable straight up
5)Very gentle bottom of screw then 1/4 turn out, check oil level while there - should just cover bottom gear teeth
6)Button up
7)release handle
8)re-adjust cable
9)re-adjust primary

Wow. I shift a lot earlier than that. I didn't even think 1st gear could hit 34mph without being cutoff...1-2 - 34

4-5 - 65

with my foot
I guess my next question will then be... How do you see? ;)with my foot
LOL - the rev limiter hits at 35, I always shift just below it when going into second, the rest of the gears are about 5 to 10 mph below the limiter.

I'm going to have to try that today. Do you know how many RPM you're at in 1st gear at ~35mph?
