I just purchased a used headlamp and one of the reflectors is missing most of the reflective paint. Any one have a busted up headlamp with one good reflector in it?

That was a recall item. Check with whith HD for a replacement. Thy may not be too expensive.

Oi... I don't have the bike... just the lamp.. putting it on an X1.

Any known product to fix this? I cant think of anything.

Unless I find someone who sprays that chrome paint stuff.

That's why I said check with HD for a replacement and they may not be too expensive. There are several used items on eBay that sell for much more than a new one from HD. People must just forget that stock parts are still available from HD for over 5 more years.

    Two words: projector retrofit.

Hmmm.. I know not of this retrofit. I am intrigued though. I had planned on attempting to integrate some amber leds for turn signals inside the housing (kinda like how an Audi headlamp looks). You talking about modifying a Firebolt set up or projectors inside the XB housing? Gears are turning now. Hmmmm.

Is the issue with this reflector the recall?

The recall was for the reflective paint coming off, but I'm not sure if it was for models other than the firebolt. Do a recall check online.

You can either purchase a projector retrofit kit from an online purveyor like TRS (their motorcycle kit), or try to fit firebolt projectors into the lightning housing. I would not advise going with one of the cheapo eBay projector setups, though.

Octo - That kit is bad ass and gave me so many ideas. Even the ballasts look small enough to mount on the back of the lamp assy. I can't see spending 270 on the dual kit while I still need an exhaust and a tune. ;) Maybe down the road. Thanks for the link.
