    Just stumbled across this....

The Buell Motorcycle Company was an American motorcycle manufacturer based in East Troy, Wisconsin and founded in 1983 by ex-Harley-Davidson engineer Erik Buell.[1] Harley-Davidson acquired 49% of Buell in 1993, and it became a wholly owned subsidiary by 2003.[2] On November 17, 2006, Buell announced that it had produced and shipped its 100,000th motorcycle.[3]

On October 15, 2009, Harley-Davidson announced the discontinuation of the Buell product line as part of its strategy to focus on the Harley-Davidson brand.[4][5] The last motorcycle was produced on October 30, bringing the number manufactured to 136,923.[6]

I wonder how many were made in each color? I would love to know how many sets of translucent plastics are out there.

that number wouldnt tell you anything anyway. they still sell translucent plastics on certain sites without the bike attached to it...new in the box.

I understand that but it would be a good estimate...they aren't in production anymore are they?

nope. but all along, while they were selling those translucent bikes they were also selling parts..spares if you will... so in essence, even if i told you they only sold 35000 translucent bikes, there still may have been 75000+ translucent sets of parts out there. just sayin~

it would be nice to know how many are left intact with no broken tabs. but i bet if everyone knew their value would rise significantly.

Each plastic body part on our bikes has a time and date stamped into it from the injection mold that made it and the fly screen i ordered in Oct. last year was dated 6/10 so imo they were made well after they closed! Oh yea it is a translusent red fly screen.

So is there a way to find how many were made by year and model?

I have an 07 xb12STT, and I do not see too many around.

translucents are treated as an accessory. My dealer has checked and told me they are obsolete .
