I had the same question about my Cr. 1125's use a ram air system and the intake is under the headlight. You want to cram as much air through that scoop as possible. Making an opening allowing air in elsewhere will take away for your horsepower.

But... But... But, it looks so PURTY! :)
I can say it is significantly louder, really hard to tell off the seat of my pants if I lost any power doing it. I'm going to just go ahead and agree with the previous posters and tell you to leave the inner airbox cover alone.

Is it bad that I really love the sound though?

^^ DONE! :D Did it two weeks ago. Sounds like it wants to suck me into the velocity stack. Haven't noticed much power loss if any - but I haven't opened her up all the way either. Data logging runs are in the near future.

1125's are fast enough the way they are. An air box mod isn't going to make much of a difference for the daily drivers out there. I would do it because I think the intake noise sounds cool, but I'm not going to because I already have a K&N filter and I don't want to run too lean. Just keep an eye on your plugs; if they start to turn white, you're way too lean.

i just put my inner airbox back on yesterday because it was throwing me a check engine light with the inner box taken out and jardine rt45 exhaust installed. i put the cover back on, and no more check engine light for me! Plus, the jardine exhaust drowns out the intake noise anyway! good god it's loud!
