Just wanted to update... I went ahead and got an EBR ecm. Took the bike out yesterday just for about 30 miles. It ran very well. I am a little disapointed that i did not seem too gain ne power with the new ECM(i didnt really buy it for that i needed a new one ne way, @least so far it seems to be fixed). The bike did run more smoothly, low speed surging was nearly non existant and no exhaust popping at all so I'm happy in that respect.

Did you notice any difference in fuel mileage after the ECM swap? I've got other issues at the moment, but I'm thinking of an ECM swap (or maybe a tune) to match up with a Hawk exhaust and K&N filter (sitting in the garage; not installed yet). But commuting 100 miles per day, I'm as concerned with fuel mileage as anything else these days.

havent logged enuff miles yet. Ill report back when i have. I have heard rumor of a mileage drop with theses ECMs but i wouldnt see why they'd cause a huge difference.

Thanks. Your feedback would be great. When I rode for fun, I guess I really didn't care. But 500+ miles a week in a straight, boring line dictates that I watch such things. At the same time, I'd love to liven up the bike a bit for those few moments I can actually play around. Stupid compromises . . . but it's still better to be on the bike than stuck in my car.

I will say(as i said b4) that the EBR ECM didnt seem to improve horse power in ne noticable way. But if ur changing pipe intake and ECM all @ once u will notice a pretty big difference in performance. My ULy never got below 50mpg (no matter how hard i beat it) b4 so i hope its still close to that.

I'm not expecting huge jumps, but I'm hoping the combination of Hawk exhaust, K&N intake, and ECM provide a noticeable gain. Realistically, if it would smooth it out a bit down low and eliminate the decel pops I'd call it close enough.

It sounds like I'm now in need of a new ECM (crack in mine; the "other issues" I referred to earlier), so now is the time.

I've been getting about 45mpg since break-in (8000 miles now) with maybe 10% variability based on how I'm riding it. Hopefully that won't take a dive.

I just purchased a race ecm for 08 xb12x drummer ss and kn installed. My opinion is that when the bike is under load (third gear and up) the bike seems to pull harder than oem. But when the bike is in first and second the richer mixer seems to slow down the free revving of the bike below 5000. The bike runs cooler because the fan is set to stay on when your driving and shuts down when you stop or moving very slow. Not sure how long the fan will hold up , but the bike doesnt turn fan on when you stop and sounds like a blow dryer. And yes the popping is gone.

The perfect combo would race ecm with direct link so you can customize performance to your liking. that is expensive, but i think a must have upgrade in the future.

got enuff miles on to get a decent average now 45-48 so far with no trips that im not hammering the throttle regularly. so a small drop in mileage i think.
