Yes I was curious if anyone knew exactly how to remove the complete exhaust system of a XB9S? I am going to exhaust wrap the header and paint the muffler while it is off the bike.

be careful with those studs. pb blaster is your friend.

if you see the slightest rust or wear issues id advise replacing them studs. they cost liek 2 bucks for a bag of them and you can do the ole double nut tric to get them out no problem. i good tight seal there keeps the heat in check adn we need all the heat help we can get. oh and yes "all hale the pb blaster".
Thanks for the advice guys.
Dang on second thought I might wrap the header while it is on the bike and just take the muffler off and paint it lol.
idk about that. if you get the nuts off without breaking them I wouldn't go looking for more trouble. you have a much higher chance of breaking them trying to get the steel stud out of the aluminum head. it would be ideal to replace the studs but i can tell you how not fun drilling out a stud is.ole double nut tric to get them out no problem
You will have a better outcome with removing the header IMO
agree with jake that it's faster and results in cleaner wrap with header removed but in all honesty i did mine on my firebolt with header on motor and it came out fine. remember to let your wrap material soak in warm water for 15 minutes or more before you begin the install. that seems to be the trick in getting it tight.
