A lot of people use the WIX model # 51394. You can buy them cheap on Amazon 51394 oil filter. I currently have a Mobil 1 M-103 on my XB12Ss because I discovered I had a defective WIX filter mid oil change, over the July 4th weekend when my wix/amsoil dealer was closed and 30 miles away.
As for oil, I use Amsoil 20W-50 Synthetic in both the swingarm (engine) and Primary/clutch. I'm happy with it.
51394 oil filter
thx
One more question it says to use locktight... do you guys use it?
Yes
I do not use loc-tite, no problems
The standard Harley Synthetic oil is up to standard and not only does the bike runs smooth, al lot of engine noises also fade, this however can only be used after approx 8000km on the engine.
We have been using the new K+N filter with the advantage that it keeps the oil cleaner and in the same breath ensure better oilflow through the filter and in the process ensure better cooling of the engine. Whatever you use it is wise to always contact the local Harley shop and make sure that your guarantee is not compromised with the change

I only use Royal Purple, I feel they are the best. "You get what you paid for", and it isn't cheap. Also, I dont have one buy I think the K&N oil filters are pretty high quality. I have one on my 350z.
"You only get what you pay for" Well that's true a lot of times but the wal-mart super tech ST4967 are well made oil filters. In fact their made better than some filters that cost 3 times as much. I've been using them on different bikes for over a 100,000 miles. BTW i'am not promoting wal-mart by no means because they suck in alot of ways!
