Most filters out there are I'm sure about the same. Most comparisons that I've been reading, always claim that FRAM is of very poor quality. Whichever brand you pick wal-mart, K&N, or Amsoil I'm sure they will be fine. I posted the above, in case they didn't have the "1" that you were looking for.
Do we need to buy some sort of gasket when changing the lubricant in the primary?

Yeah, the Harley or Buell dealerships have a Primary gasket that you need to replace when changing the primary oil. At least that's what the Service manual says. I've read a lot of posts on here where some are very careful with it and re-use with no problems.
I've only seen Purolator filters (AKA Bosch, Motorcraft, PowerFlo, ProLine, Purolator Premium Plus, Purolator Pure One, Quaker State) to be consistently built well. There is enough info below to make reasonable choice. Suzi/Honda filters
* Shell Rotella-T Synthetic 5w-40 (blue container, not white), $13 / gallon at Wal-Mart.
* Mobil Delvac-1 5w-40 (grey container, not black), $27 / gallon at Petro stations, $20 / gallon at Farm and Fleet.
* Mobil-1 SUV 5w-40, about $5 / qt anywhere.
* AMSOil AMF 10w-40 synthetic motorcycle oil, about $6 / qt.
* Golden Spectro Supreme, (no price).
* Motul 5100 Ester, (no price).
The best petroleum oils are: (in no particular order)
* Chevron Delo 400 15w-40 (blue container) $7 / gallon at any auto parts store, $34 / 6 gallons at Costco.
* Mobil Delvac 1300 15w-40 (black container) $6 / gallon at any auto parts store, $21/ 4 gallons at Sam's Club.
* Shell Rotella-T 15w-40 (white container) $7 / gallon at Wall-Mart or any auto parts store, $34 / 6 gallons at Sam's Club.
FYI Eric Buell Racing just partnered with Amsoil. All oil listed are only up to w40, if you live in the south Buell recommends 20w50. A lot of manufactures make oil picificly for air cooled V twins. The best insurance is regular oil changes. Ride Hard, but take life easy.:p
