No it's not normal, but 5 min is a long time to sit at idle. Remember, warming up the bike should only last as long as it takes to put your helmet and gloves on.
My bike was at idle for about 5 mins warming up and had a slight glow to it. My dad got worried and just gave it about 3000 to 2000 rpms and in no time flat they got super red (picture doesnt do it justice).
Is this normalish with how our bike are or is there something wrong going on here? It was about 60f out.
I have noticed lately more vibration in the pegs while riding.
But as a plus, a very awesome member sent me this dash plate and its awesome!
(Thanks low)

Strange I've let my 9r idle so long that I lit and smoked a cigarette And it still wasn't that warm and then for about another five minutes.. When I shut it off and drained the oil it was just a little warm. Something has got to be wrong. Check ur plugs. What mads have you done or does it have?
I've never had that happen to mine and I've let mine idle for much longer than 5 min before (and I'm in FL heat).
I'd bet that your running lean. Read your plugs.
The wierd thing is it should run fat on a warm up.
Defiantly looks lean!!!
egt's get lower when combustion is lean...or rich. highest adiabatic flame temp is at a lambda of 1.
check your timing
My '06 X and my '09 XT both do that to a degree. The '09 will get there a little quicker from cold.
Have a look in very dark conditions.
