OK. Before anyone yells, I searched and found the answer now that I've rephrased my search question. The stock ECM has crappy mapping. It happens below 2k. I'll get another ECM right away.
Well I've been full circle - sporty, dyna, ultra back to jap (zx11) now just traded that in for a 2007 yellow Buell Firebolt XB12R, 2100 miles. I've always thought they were cool looking but when I test drove it this last Sunday, I had to have it. It has so much character even though it's about half the horsepower of my now ex Kawi.
It's bone stock for now.
A couple of questions; are they normally cold blooded? It wanted to stall taking off from a stop. Also, a very slight backfire once in a while. Is that fairly normal as well?

Just remap it and reset TPS. What kind of pipe does it have?

congrats and welcome to buellxb.
My bike had similar issues with backfiring, stumbling etc.... I changed to NGK iridium plugs (the 9's, one heat range colder than oem) this made a HUGE difference. Fuel mapping is the rest of the answer I believe.
Thanks for the welcome. From the reading I've done this evening, this seems to be a mature bunch of riders (I didn't say "old"!) with some great information.
I will pick up some iridium plugs tomorrow and remap the fuel mixture soon enough.
Looks like rain tomorrow so I'll have to spend the evening going over the bike, setting up the suspension, changing fluids etc.
only as far as riding goes.:Dthis seems to be a mature bunch of riders
Congrats on the bike. I am partial to the yellow Firebolt.
