Does it pop up as a COM port when connected in the device manager?
I need at least ecmspy to talk to the bike, so I can make sure my fan is working on the bike. (runs on the bench connected to a battery) I've tried different usb ports, different computers, uninstalled the driver and reinstalled, etc. Windows says it is operating properly. Do cables just "go bad"? Theoctopus says I might have a dud cable.
I do have the tail off the bike, but as far as I can tell all the grounds are connected to the battery.
Does it pop up as a COM port when connected in the device manager?
yeah, it shows in the device manager. I tried changing it from com3 to com4, no change.
Where did u get the com driver from? And what windows version do u use?
If it's popping up as a COM port, then the cable and USB port are functioning.
Have you turned the keys on, set the killswitch to run, and waited until the CEL turned off in order to connect?
Have you made sure that all the pins are firmly seated in the connector for your cable?
trying moving the program from the program files...i just put it on the desktop.
Octo- I opened the plug up to check, I did have a broken wire once and soldered it back on. Afaik the pins stay in place when connected.
The CEL is always on, I've pulled codes a couple times.
Cnumber, I can open the programs, but it wont connect to the bike. Are you saying that moving the program out of the program files folder to the desktop worked for you? What was your computer doing?
