Thread: Racing Stripe Part 2

  1. #1
Alright so earlier this year I had purchased my 2000 X1 Red Stripe Edition and had made a thread found here:

    http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-Foru...OwnerNew-Rider

Since then I fixed what was broke/needed replaced to get it riding again after the wreck. Recently I've been collecting parts to put on during winter. I ordered 8k hi/low HIDs, new chain from ASB, an got a forcewinder off badweather. I still need to order a new roller for my chain as mine is worn down.

I have already put the new chain on and here's a comparison of how they look.

I also received my forcewinder tonight so I'm going to test fit it tonight. I'll post some more pics of the test fitting tomorrow. Here's some pics of what I received, the filter is getting replaced with a K&N one. They don't seem to sale the direct replacement but looking around it looks like I found one that will work; Part # RC-3680.

It was stretched out and rusty as hell. Definitely rides a lot better with the new one lol.

Morning, figured I'd update a little bit before the new years festivities start. Last night I got the forcewinder test fitted and all looks good. Here's some before and after shots.

    Before:

    After:

It's going to look a lot better than the scratched up bread box on there now. One thing I did notice with the intake is there isn't a hole for the intake sensor, but it looks like the original filters that came with the forcewinder's had a hole cut out in them for this? When I was looking up the replacement filter it didn't seem to state whether or not it had a hole so I guess we'll see.

Also after looking around on the web I found a post on badweather about the forcewinders. It seems that the newer versions of these were different from the older ones making them more restrictive. Where the intake bolts to the throttle body there is a little opening on the inside, this is what holds back power. So this weekend I'm going to open mine up and smooth out the inside of it. Here's the link I found on badweather and a pic of my intake.

That's all for now, everyone have a safe and happy new years.

Loki, I know how to post the image just trying not to clutter the page as the pics are large. Thanks though.

    Thanks to everyone else too.

Time for a little update. Just received my HID kit from DDM yesterday. Quality looks pretty good from what I can see although its my first kit/install. Got some nice weather coming up this weekend so I'm going to get it put on as long as everything works out. Here's the kit I bought:

For now I'm waiting on my filter and sock to show up so I can get my forcewinder on. I should have both by no later then next wensday but we'll see. While I wait I'm going to do the breather re-route (most likely this weekend) and get everything ready to go. I'll update once I get them done.
