Cleaning Spark Plugs

I heard from my dealer that in order to change the plugs on the 1125CR you have to drop or rotate the engine from the frame. Is this true? I also heard that there is a procedure whereby you can clean the plugs without removing them. Anyone have any experience with this procedure?

yes but i cant remember the sequence the 08-10 xb can also do this.

It's not really cleaning them... Just firing them off while the engine is not running to help with a flooding situation... Many have got the plugs out w/o rotating the engine but from what I understand that front coil had to be man-handled a bit to get it out.

MANUAL
If foul plugs are suspected ,a spark plug clean can be initiated manually. Repeat the following sequence three times.
1. roll and hold the throttle wide open
2.turn the ignition to ON
3.wait three seconds
4.release the throttle grip
5.turn the ignition to off

I agree with going ahead and rotating the motor just to make sure the plugs are replaced with new ones...the procedure seems sketchy...I would like to see the plugs with my on eyes to see what they look like....a couple of hours your first time rotating the motor out then back together..easier 2ND time and so on

Never clean plugs! Replace them. They are cheap enough. I've worked in the shop for several years and we have a spark plug blaster and have used it several times to clean plugs. There have been several instances where we have cleaned the plugs to where they look brand new, and yet when we reinstalled them they still don't work right. We replaced them with new ones and they started right up.

I saw a how-to on removing the front spark plug. Just remove the front ram with the sensor and you can remove the coil and spark plug. You will obviously have to use some elbows for the ratchet but its not that bad.
