You mean as far as parts being made for them? My guess is they(Buells) didn't "catch on big" until the XB line??
was just wondering why is it that no one seems to care or do anything with the older buellslike my 97' lightning, I having a helluva time finding go fast or look good goodies for it , hell I can't even hardly find stock stuff like shift linkage (which I still need by the way if anybody happens to have any laying around) just curious:D

Haven't looked for your year,but look on Ebay.They allways have lots of Buell parts listed,all years/models.Also,check out Craigslist,go to the motorcycles,post an WTB add,plus it's FREE;)Check em'out.
06xb9r is correct, Back then Buell only produced about 3000 units per year, Now they produce 10 times that amount. The old Tubers are therefore much rarer than the current lines. I by the way have a '98 S3 and share your pain in locating parts. Banke does make a shift linkage for your model. I have there setup on my bike and it is much better than the original sportster adaptation.
ok, it's a bit out of your way, but if there is anything you need for tubers...these guys can get it!

Her is the link for the Banke performance site with the shifter for your bike.

I have also found this guy on eBay, he does some Billet stuff for the Buells. I have a Dual Carb setup that he did. found him after I got the Banke though. He currently doesn't have the shifter listed but you could message him and find out what he has. I think he is in the Seattle area if I remember correctly.

anyway that should get that shifter problem handled.
Later
what all do you have done to yours to handle a dual carb set up ophawk, that things got to me a monster. & I really appreicieat the help
They were two smaller carbs, Tillotson Carburetors, They are commonly used on Ultralight Aircraft. col.time had a kit on eBay, I bought, ran it for a year, but I had trouble with it passing the emission testing here in Phoenix, so I had to take it off, It did have a ton more power, and infinitely more adjustable. The setup used a S&S 366 manifold, with a custom adapter from that to the carbs.
I"ll get some pics posted soon.
Here are the Pics of the setup, I do have some with it on the bike, but not on the computer here at work.
