Thread: clutch is slipping need help

  1. #1
I just replaced my clutch cable, and now my clutch slips under light trottle. Adjusting cable is no help. Anyone know about adjustments internally? The clutch was pulling second gear power wheelies no prob, now I have nothing.

I'm no Buell expert, but logic says, if the cable is all you changed the problem lies in the cable. Wrong length, perhaps different collets/style on the ends, something of that nature? I would double and triple check all that before I would make any internal adjustments if the clutch was working fine before the new cable.

Check out the DIY videos on the side bar towards the top. There is one on the clutch adj.
    under the inspection cover.

I used the video above and had some trouble getting the clutch back the way it should be, but eventually got it. The turns he's referring to are extremely sensitive. Take it litte turns at a time. It'll get there.

Ok guys thanks for all the input, I had the internal adjustment f'd up. For buellers when setting the internal clutch adj. tighten until it barely touches then back it off a half turn, and reinstall cover, fill with oil. I did a 3rd gear wheelie with clutch after setting it for around 300 yds.
