That would probably work as a good 2nd bike. That or a Ully....
I don't think you want to go smaller....or much bigger, for that matter.
So I've got an '04 xb12r with about 15k miles on it. I put over 7k on it in the last year. I just moved farther away from work and still want to ride to save on gas but I don't want to rack up the miles on the Buell. Anyone got suggestions for a good, comfortable commuter bike? I'm thinking maybe a Vulcan 900...

Keep it in the family. Buy a tuber.
They are easier to work on than an XB, more engine parts will exchange with a Sporty and the seating position is more roomy and relaxed.
I love my Firebolt, but my Thunderbolt is my daily ride.
Vulcans are comfy, if I were to buy a cruiser for commuting I'd consider that or a VStar 650. Those are pretty affordable.I'm thinking maybe a Vulcan 900...
I have a Suzuki C50 cruiser that is pretty comfy too. And cheap
Im considering a lighting instead of my firebolt. Don't get me wrong, I love my buell but I just want something comfortable that I have no worries about racking up the miles on. Keep the suggestions coming.
I use my Lightning as a daily commuter and I love it. I bought mine in August and have put on 9000 miles since then. I commute about 30 min one way and it's pretty comfy not like a cruiser would be but enough for me.
