are all air box covers interchangeable or could i find a translucent one for the 1125?

Thread revival! Not worth my own thread, so here it is:

I just got a black airbox w/o vent at filler cap from an early model xb. Will I need to cut a hole and add mesh (or drill holes) around the gas filler cap if I want to use a non-vented airbox on my 2009 XT? Or will it get enough air from around the base of the airbox? Thanks in advance!

P.S. 2009 xb12xt with Hawk, K&N, and EBR ecm.

I put holes in mine. Not sure if it matters that much. I just figured the closer to factory the better. 09 uly xt
