Unfortunately I haven't seen able to source black hardware that was both strong enough for the application and that had ample corrosion resistance. Standard black oxide bolts that would be strong enough would rust really quickly and that's the last thing I want to happen. Function takes slight priority over looks in this scenario.Is it possible to request black hardware?
I'll keep looking around for it but short of powder-coating the hardware (which I don't have the budget for) I'm doubtful that I will have much luck. It appears that my competition has the same problem as they all use non-black hardware.
The other option would be paint but I haven't had much luck doing that as they usually chip or scratch the bolt head where they are tightened (which looks bad and makes them prone to corrosion).
If any of you have any sources for black alloy steel hardware (grade 8 or better) with good corrosion resistance, please feel free to pass them along via a PM.
