Thread: spit & spudder

    i have a 04 xb12s i have had an intermitten spit and spudder, it can co- inside with an idle issue where i have to ride throttle to maintain an idle without stalling.it can be cold start idle or a running idle with no ryme or reason to it. have spent at least 2 grand with different motor shops to no avail. any suggestions please. installed a doebeck controller last year, seems to help but doesnt get rid of issue. please i love this bike and this is crazy frustrating

    bin the dobeck crap.
    go back to stock if the bike is modded.
    record a log and post a link to it.

    ok i can get rid of the doebeck that hurting though not cheap per say, how do i get programming back to stock and what program do i need to record a log.
    thanks for the help greatly appreciated. i do have a service manual if its in there. im a plumber by trade but more than willing to learn seems how ive paid excessive money for no results

    what did the other shops do?does it have any codes?have you checked all your ground and positive connections,checked for vaccum leaks,fuel pressure?since the dobeck helped it seems like a fuel problem.did you change the stock mapping?

    motor shops said they "weant trhrough motor" i wish i could tell u more i know they checked the injectors and the fuel system would assume they checked fuel pressure but cant say for sure. i live in a rural area so taking it to a Buell specialist is out of the question being as there is not one here. one thing i can say is when the issue began i was throttling the bike heavy (traffic jam) shut it down then id did not want to hold iddle or run well after. runs very lean also if that helps pull spark plugs they look brand new

    yes the stock mapping was changed long ago

    no codes ever come up no engine light ever comes on,

    remove the dobeck controller first

    to check codes myslef do i need a reader or something if so where can i order one i will begin removing doebeck today

    you can check for codes using the directions in the above link.its easy you need a small jumper wire and 10 mins.
