im gonna bring my multimeter and power probe home from work tomorrow and see if i can get to the bottom of this. ill post back tomorrow evening
also a volt meter if you have one will work better a test light will light with 6 volts.but only having 6 volts to the starter and other circuits can cause numerous problems.

do you have headlights? The nuetral awitch could be the issue as well. Don't remember where it is on the xb's but see if you can jump it

Possible Starter Solenoid or Clutch lever switch.Neutral switch is slightly behind the Front Belt pulley most likely not the problem.The Solenoid might be stuck in the Out/or in Position(Jammed).That is rare.
The starter Somewhat resembles a Chrysler Mini Van Starter(Mid 90s) Some tools and Multimeter may be needed to find the problem.A Remote Starter Button(Tool) can bump it over if you have one.If not just some good old fashioned knowhow.There is good help on this forum.
An Old fashoned trick to free one IF It's Stuck is to get a Hard Piece of wood and tap the Solenoid housing[right side of the bike] (don't kill it) watch those oil lines/maybe unjam it or not .Depends on what you find when tested. There is a Kit to rebuild those at most starter shops.Post up when can.Welcome to the Forum.*Jimi
