epion420 -- how did you zip tie it down? Any pictures?
Cooter -- thanks for the link. Dummy me, I was looking on Home Depot's website searching velcro + canvas. Not sure why I did that... :p
However, a general question on securing the battery.
I can see how to re-use the "loop" with velcro, but what about the other side? In my picture, the left side has the attachment point as part of the strap. It's not like the right with the metal "loop" to hook on the other side.
Thanks for any help/suggestions.
What i did was loop the zip ties together, like this OOOO one end of the loop on a hook, over the battery, the pull the zip ties at the other end tight on the other hook. To take out the battry, i just cut one end and to put it back just replace that one zip tie.
Solid. Thx.
Mine kept breaking so i use 3 zip ties to keep it from moving around. I also hold my horn in with zip ties caus the metal bracket kept breaking off. Zip ties are the ****!
My buddy that works for the electric company keeps giving me these sick zip ties that are about 3' long, 2" wide and have a metal tang inside. I bet I could tow a car with them!
Well I caved and bought a strap from HD. $16. One thing I noticed right away was the new one is shorter than what broke. Parts guy said, "oh, that's because the old one is all stretched out."
We'll see what happens when I attempt to install.
Has anyone "warmed up" the strap prior to installing? Meaning, the thought is it will stretch easier if it's warm.
I bought a stock strap a couple years ago, my bike never came with one. In fact, it didnt have anything securing the battery when i got it. On short notice i ziptied it secure and it held up great.ordered a strap from al over at ASB along with other nessesities. Didnt bother use the strap since the zipties worked solid. Well, when i needed to change out the battery a couple years later, figured id use the strap. No dice! I struggled with it for about 10 min and said **** it, put my zipties back on. Still got a new strap sitting in my garage. :D
In here they talk about using a hairdryer or heat gun and possibly "pre-stretching" it:
