Thread: checking connecting rod clearance/play

  1. #1
I have my head, jug and piston off for a blown piston.

I would like to be complete and check up on my rod bearing. I can't really see any way to disassemble this thing without taking the case apart completely.

I found in the service manual on 3-71 checking rod side play, but that doesn't really tell me the space between the bearing and the journal. Should I just assume if I can't feel movement when I pull/push directly on the rod towards the crankshaft I'm good to go?

the side play is really all you can check on that. if its within spec you should be fine.
