Think about it - the practical benefit of this panel is it substantially increases the enclosing of drive belt, therefore reducing the debris and moisture that reaches it and resulting potential damage and increased wear. Did you know that the Service Manual for the '05 XB12R has 10 (ten) ! entries under "Required Action" in Table 1-8 "Potential Limits to Belt Drive Service Life" of "Inspect for damaged / missing belt gaurds"? That's right - find those belts gaurds, get 'em out, dust 'em off and put 'em back on your bike if you are interested increasing the service life of your drive belt, possibly saving you from being stranded who-knows-where with a premature broken belt. AND - get yourself one of these carbon fiber swing arm fill panels from me to further protect your expensive drive belt.
