Hi , My engine warning light will turn of when the motor starts and after three seconds come back on. The motor starts perfectly, even afterv standing for two weeks. When riding the light remains on and the motorseems to be running fine in traffic and open road...

What year-n-model? Do you have ECM Spy? 35bucks for the Ecm Spy and you can read the codes and find out a bunch of other stuff.

Mine does this excact thing, it says open or short on front coil, open or short on rear coil.

Been meaning to fix it but im always sooooo busy.
It never gives me a problem, no studder no hesitation, no loss of power.

This is what mine is, but that dosnt mean its what yours is.

On my year and model i know you can blink code them, but I dont know what year yours is so i cant say you can too.

Oh ya welcome to buell xb ;)

    Good luck

I just found two cables on eBay. Guys are selling them with the ECMSpy disk. I got the first one for $30 shipped. I think the other guy wanted a bit more.

Not to steal this thread from ya but I have questions with the ECMSpy stuff on ebay. I am having similar issues and wanna get this ECMSpy program and cable for my xb12r. I just typed in "ecm spy" on ebay and got a few auctions.
They say it comes with the following:
    ECM to USB Cable
    Driver Installation Instructions
    Cable Driver
Stock and Race Maps for most XB9/12 model and X1, S3
Free Tuning Guide UPDATED NEW AND IMPROVED VERSION

Then it says you can download the free program online by searching ECMSPY on google as it is a shareware program. Sounds legit and all.
Is there anything missing from this stuff that I will either want or need?
Thanks for the help and the thread time. This is by far the best forum with actual real world info I have ever been to.

[Free] ECMspy for pre 2008 bikes. Will need to use [free] TunerPro for 2008+ bikes. ECMSpy MONO requires a $ donation.

Cable/driver/ECMSpy will be all you need for trouble codes pre 08. Some folks have issues with ports and having your computer recognize the cable/bike when hooked up.

Awesome thanks. For anyone else looking to get everything, I found the ECMSpy program free to download for pre-08 on Buell Mods and the cable and drivers on ebay for about $45 w free shipping.
