I have a Buell Blast 2000 with 12k miles, purchased it last year.

I have no problem starting the bike when it's cold, but after i ride it for 20-30 minutes (and park it), it won't start again (even when i let it cool down for 3-4 hours),everytime i try to start the bike (Kick stand up, clutch engaged and neutral gear) i hear a super fast clicking sound and the clutch cable gets VERY hot.

The person i bought it from told me it was a known problem, gearing the bike on the first speed and moving the bike forward and back a couple of times seem to help, but not always.

Any idea on what i should do to fix the issue?

    Thanks for your help! :)

What do you mean clutch cable gets hot? The clutch cable goes into transmission on the left side of the bike and should never get hot. Which cable are you talking about?

Sounds like possible ignition problem. Generally when the ignition starts to go it makes it difficult when hot. The next time that happens take the timing cover off and see if the little red light is working. Should go off and on, but if not working at all then you know what it is.

    Good video showing the ignition.

ALso check grounds, front and rear.

Anyone know how to post videos in this forum? Have tried every witch way with no luck.

I mean that when trying to start the bike for more than 3-4 minutes, the clutch cable gets hot, i can't barely touch it, i am attaching a pic to point out which cable:

ALso check grounds, front and rear.

That cable should NEVER get hot. I repeat, NEVER!

Your front and rear grounds need to be cleaned up and freed of any rust and gunk and then reattached securely.

Make sure they are good, and then try re-starting. Keep checking your cable too, that should always be cool.

I've noticed that I'm having problems starting mine as well when it gets hot. So far, I've been able to start it if I keep trying, but I'm sure one of these times I won't be able to. I'll have to have hubby look at this over the weekend.

i did a little bit of research and this is what i think the problem could be coming from:

    Ground strap not tight enough
    Battery Terminals not snug enough
    Loose crankshaft nut
    Intake boot Cracked
    Ignition module

Thanks again for taking the time to reply, i will probably bring the bike to the mechanic (it wont start at all anymore)with the list i just typed...

    thanks again
