i have a 1997 s1 and was sitting on it the other day and noticed some play in the front rotor. i tried tightning the bolts but they are already as tight as they can be. the rotor also moves in and out and up and down. is this a regular issue cause i heard of the rotor being a floating rotor. or do i need to go get new bolts. thanks

I know my XB has a floating rotor and I can push on the rotor at the mount points and it moves. I guess that's one of the ways it stays self adjusting.

I just checked my neighbors white lightning and his seems to be floating as well. I wouldn't worry about it.

No!!! THIS IS NOT NORMAL for a that floating rotor, the factory had an issue with the 6 bushing rotors, and did a running change on them for 2000 to a much improved style, that had 9 or 10 bushings. My rotor literally came apart/separated from the hub at the bushings. The mounting bushings where too hard for the rotor hub and excessively wore it down. The XB style are a completely different system of mounting. Get it replaced soon! You can usually find a 200 or newer rotor on eBay fairly reasonable. All it has to do is get a little out of line, and it will push your pads away from the rotor surface, then next stop, excessive lever travel and possibly not avoiding what you were stopping for!!

Actually My rotor was fine, but I trashed it as you couldn't buy just the Center Carrier, and I found the newer style for 75-80 on ebay, and it was tight, bolted right on worked like a dream. I then converted the whole front over to the XB Style just to be different.
