several board members have done precisely that for road side emergency repair when charging system went out during a ride and don't believe it harmed anything. Will it hurt to cut the 77 connector out and just splice wires?
Will it hurt to cut the 77 connector out and just splice wires? What exactly does the connector do? Besides the obvious of connecting wires together

What exactly is the issue with this connector?
Thank you
Hard wired mine too.
sean: i never had a problem with mine but apparently the connectors are of questionable quality and promote arcing inside same. symptom seems to be erratic or intermittent charging and culprit is arcing inside the plug. i would tend to think that some di-electric grease or electrical spray and good cleaning would fix it up.What exactly is the issue with this connector?
Thanks, would hate to break down if it is easily avoidable. Is there an "updated" connector or anything that fixes it?
My buddy broke down saturday during a ride and I wonder if this is his issue. The electronics(lights, gauges, etc) went dead then he started losing power then another mile or so it died and wouldn't start. Wouldn't do anything, wouldn't prime fuel pump, no gauges, nothing. The light did "try" to flicker, but that was it...
stupid question.. fellow Buellers...but where is this 77 connector ?
Thanks in advance
I think it's just in front of the drive belt front pulley, under the plastic cover.
thanks snrusnak. Does anyone hav a pic of the connector ?
