Did you figure out the issues?
On the start issue it could very well be just the battery.
On the trans issue, follow my guide step by step. Only costs a few hours of your time, and a few dollars with the detent plate and clip.

Funny ass thing, I posted a ad and people were offering cash left and right within 5 minutes. I go out to the garage and start moving it and the transmission is rotating with no issues. The chain is off of it so there is no more binding, the engine rotates too, sounds like it has compression.
So I think the issue could be just on the primary side. I know it will need a Clutch Cable, Clutch, Cable O Ring, Clutch, Primary Cover, Primary Gasket and a Primary Tensioner.
