Okay so I know that I can go to a few parts shops and pick up the parts that I need to do the conversion instead of buying the 1500 dollar kit. I'm just unsure of where I can get the parts, or any part numbers. Any help is much appreciated!

I have seen a few post about this. It would be great if someone could do a post of exactly what is needed and people can add othere options as they find them. I intend to make the swap once I break a belt.

Luc R, below is a thread I posted on the subject and had some folks offer some good info.

As far as rear sprockets concerned, I got mine from PMP Sporckets out of Wylie, TX. great people to buy from there. I dealt with Kim Parks

Refer to the second page of that thread for PMP info.

    Chain Conversion Link/Sprocket Info

Here's the one I put on.

I should be seeing my 44T 530 PMP sprocket tomorrow or Sat. I'll post a pic when it comes in. I really think it is going to be nicer than the Vortex sprockets. The Vortex sprockets work great but cosmetically don't match the XBs as well as the PMP design.

Glad you went with PMP EricZ. They're good peeps and easy to work with. Did you go with the black hard coat?

What is the benefit of converting to a chain over a belt?

I can't speak for EricZ, but his may have to do with the fact that he's building a turbo engine.

Mine was on the bike when I bought it. I've just had to replace worn parts.

Honestly I like the mechanical look of the chain and sprocket, but it's not as clean. You have upkeep on the chain that you don't on a belt. cleaning the chain, chain lube, etc. it can fly on the chain after you lube causing over spray.

But you dont neccessarily have to worry about the belt snapping, even though chains do sometimes break.
