Check out the August 2012 issue of Roadracing World, page 12. EBR is "working toward" entry in the FIM Superbike World Championship.

To meet AMA homoglation of the 1190RS, EBR had to build 18 examples prior to the first homoglation inspection, 36 by June 1 of the first season of competition, 72 before the end of the season and 100 by the end of the calendar year.
I wonder if they are on pace to meet those AMA homoglation production requirements. I wonder even more if they have sold them all... The FIM homoglation requirements are even more strict: 125 by inspection, 500 by June, and 1000 bikes by the end of the season.

The bike that EBR homoglated for use in AMA Pro Superbike, the 1190RS, comes with race-spec Ohilins suspension, a digital AiM Sports dashboard, magnesium wheels and a price tage of $39,999, just under the AMA Pro Racing's limit of $40,000. To be able to build and sell 1000 motorcycles, however, EBR will develop a lower-cost version dubbed the 1190RX.

"It's (1190RX) pretty much the same bike," said Erik Buell, except for plastic bodywork, and you're not going to have magnesium wheels or a $2,000 dashboard. You'll have aluminum wheels and a regular dashboard. But it will have the same engine, the same frame, the same swingarm, the same subframe. We want to be (price) competitive with the Ducati, the BMW, and the KTM, just under $20,000, that kind of price point."
Sounds great to me! Seriously, dropping $40K for an 1190RS is fantasy, but $20K for an 1190RX could be a (financially painful, but survivable) reality...

To be 100% honest I probably won't buy a EBR bike until they have a decent sized dealer network up and running. If any warranty work needed to be done I don't want to have to drive 6.5 hours to East Troy WI to get it done. Also part availability and cost would be another issue. I could afford a $160 rotor if I needed one or clip ons if I dropped it. And last but not least you can buy a bike that is comparable to the 1190rs right now for $13,500. I'd love to buy one but not when there are better bikes for cheaper.

Lol! Sometimes I lose sight of the fact that this is an international forum!

When I read that original post, in my head I was thinking......hmmmmm, I'm in Texas, 6.5 doesn't sound so bad! Lol!

But kid was spot on! There's much more to it than hitting a certain price point for me!

I've never owned a vehicle still under warranty, and I've never had a problem (with a motorcycle) that I could not resolve myself. Good thing, too, because I live in Hawaii and a trip to Wisconsin on my bike is out of the question.

Plus, it's not as if it would be my only bike and I needed to rely on it as daily transportation...

I'm with Poin. The argument that we could have "the same for less" doesn't apply for me--that's not why I own a Buell (a 5k GSXR1000 would destroy it by most measures).

I can't wait for EBR to release a real street version of their bike...

except a gsxr 1000 isn't fun to ride on the street due to its stupid power band as with 99% of liter bikes. not to mention most 4 cylinder bikes in general are not fun on the street, not just the liter bikes. sad when you see most people missing their ninja 250 because they had more fun on that than their 600. thats not knocking the ninja 250 since it really is a good bike.

but on topic is it really worth 20k i dont think so. its basically priced like an exotic but we will only know when it actually happens or if for that matter since its been talked about for awhile now.
