Thread: Wheel valve stems

  1. #1
I am putting new tires on my XB12R this weekend and plan on using new valve stems. Can I just go to my local HD dealer and get two valve stems that they might use on "whatever" or do the valve stems on the XB wheels need a certain style of stem? My current dealer was not a Buell dealer if that has any bearing...

    Thanks

I need them too. FlaX somewhat recently replaced his, if I remember correctly he said the part number is in the service manual and you can get them from HD.

Service manuals can be downloaded at the top of the site.

You can get them at HD, but not just anyone will work.

I was in a bind with a ride coming up in a day and I was changing my tires. Well I had bent my stem on a previous ride as I was trying to force an air pump adapter to fit. Well HD didn't have the exact one, but I put on what they gave me. It's shorter than the OEM so now I have to use a certain air pump to air up my tires, not all of them will work. I'll be replacing it next tire change.

So don't just take any stem. It needs to fit.

I've got an '04. Part book shows:
    front stem: G0313.02A8
    rear is the same number

Thanks for the p/n, verified with my other local HD dealer that was a Buell dealer (Manchester HD/Buell) though they have none in stock and its a week wait.. I think I'm just going to reuse the originals for now and hope they continue to work well...

Does anyone know if G0313.02A8 crosses to a HD number? the parts guy did not know if it does?

    Thanks

His system would've automatically crossed it as he pulled it up. I'm assuming they all do, the one in Dallas does.

    Might try googling

Go to cycle gear and buy a 90deg for the rear
Not just any 90 will work. The stems I have now came from cycle gear and the 90's they had in stock were to big in diameter. The valve stem hole in the xb rim is small than your standard valve stem.

Flax I did the exact something. Got the 90s from cycle gear and they didn't work. Too big. That's precisely why I got into a bind. I was waiting to install the 90s day before I left and when they didn't fit, I had to use what hd had in stock.
