Been looking on google on where the speed sensor on a 2004 XB12s is, and have had no real luck. The tac winds up when start the bike, so I know it's the speed sensor. Do I replace it or is there a way to salvage it?

It's on the top side of the engine case by the front pulley. You can take it off and clean it as sometimes metal flakes are inhibiting it from working properly.
