For greater acceleration replace your XB12 primary sprocket with XB9 sprocket tooth count (34).

If you would like your motor to spool up quicker, lighten the rotating mass by using an Aluminum sprocket.

I have a brand new one for sale $160.

    My bike is a '04 XB12S

I replaced my clutch, basket, cage, sprocket and final drive with CNC Aluminum parts from Evolution Industries.

Point Doc, it's over my head also. What are the advantages with the Evolution clutch, basket, cage setup?

    It's about removing rotational mass.

It takes energy to move an object. The more mass it has the more initial energy it takes to move it and then to maintain this motion. This energy does not make its way to the rear wheel, it has been used.

If you reduce the weight, the energy that was used for the OEM setup should find its way back to the rear wheel.

The stator rotor weighs in at 3lb 10oz. The XB9 sprocket is 3lb 6oz, the XB12 is more! These two items are attached to the engine crank. This weight reduces the throttle response.

The OEM clutch assembly is frickin heavier. I do not have the specific weight available.

If you use the CNC'd aluminum, there is a reduction in weight.

I have also cnc'd lightning holes in my stator rotor to remove 7.2 oz of mat'l.

In the end, the motor spools up quicker. Providing the rider harder acceleration from idle to the limiter.

    I hope this is helpful.
