I need like half a link lol to make it fit.... I dont understand how taking one link out is too tight and putting one in ive got like 5inches of slack
Ok Soon im converting my 05 xb12scg to chain. Ive got a 52t rear sprocket and a 22t front sprocket. Also an ebr idler and spacer. with a DID gold 520 chain.
My problem is I take a link out of the chain and it's too tight, If I put a link in it's wayy too loose. I dont undserstand, im stumped. Is it because my front sprocket is a 22t? Can I only run a 21t? Please I need help, Yours Faithfully Colin Casper.

With the extra link in, and it seeming too loose, is that while its' on the stand as shown in the photo? The chain will be at it's tightest when the swingarm is parallel to ground. Check how tight it is with bike on ground and you sitting on it. (ride height). I still run my belt, but hope this helps anyway.

1sec im not at my house but im flying back to go check thanks for the quick reply, I was thinking I bought a 22 front sprocket and that was screwing things up... I'll let you know what happens soon. Thanks agian!
Nope didn't work. I dont unterstand how one link could do this
Could the front 22t sprocket do this?
I have a 530 with a 21 49 and had the same issue a had to make a tensioner bracket for my idler arm.
you should be running a tensioner. this will resolve both your issue of sizing and the need to adjust your chain. even if you were to get that 'less one link' to fit now, you would still have a loose chain in about a week and need to figure a way to adjust it..
why are you even doing this? is there a reason for doing the chain conversion? i have only done it to oompah for the 240 tyre, and let me tell you its a pain in the arse. mess. maintainance. noise. more mess. adjusting. its not worth any effort really. the belt is more pratical. less fuss. no mess. auto adjust. and you just carry a spare on long trips. a ten minute swap if it breaks.
The EBR idler and idler arm are designed for use with their chain conversion swingarm. Their swingarm has axle adjusters to adjust chain tension. You either need to buy a chain drive swingarm or make/purchase an adjustable idler arm.
