Got the clear coat on last week.

After the first coat I thought "disaster"!
But after flatting it a bit, a bit of adjustments to the gun, 2nd and 3rd coats came out like this:

Still need to buff it out, but I am super chuffed!

Prepping everything so it can go for electrical next week.

Very nice job, wally. Did you PC the wheels yourself? That thing is gonna turn heads AND be a hoot to ride.

Your bike really has me thinking about my 77 Yam xs400 thats rotting away in my grandfathers shed. One of these days I may have the time and money. I'm fighting the urge to sell it at this point. I really wanna get that feeling of wheeling around on a one-of-a-kind set of wheels that I put alot of the ideas/work into.

One of the cool things about those old 70's-early 80's parallel twins (aside from being nearly indestructible) is that you can really thrash 'em around town without doubling the speed limit in the blink of an eye.

Thanx! I had them powder coated, along with the frame.

I can't wait to get it done and ride it. :D
It is purely a fun, city bike.

I have the Uly for the longer runs.

Keep your xs400 and build it how you like it.

    There has been some developments!

Had all the wiring done. It is all together and it runs!

There was an issue with the first set of carbs (only ran on choke), so I cleaned and rebuilt a second set.
It runs normally except the left float bowl doesn't seat properly, causing the fuel to stream out.

Petcock was also faulty, so replaced that.

Replaced leaky master cylinder, but still have to sort out leak on the caliper.

Did you have any trouble finding the right jets for your pods/ 2 into 1 setup? I just pulled the carbs off of my Yam but have yet to go through them. The little bit of gas in the floats smelled like varnish. Its gonna be a fun clean up job.

I suspect I will (being on the bum end of the world...)

The plan was to get it running with whatever is in the carbs first and then from there fine-tune it.
Was a mission cleaning the carbs, as we only get carb spray.
Carb dip is non-existent or super expensive!

I think I can strip 450 carbs, assemble, mount, take off with my eyes closed by now!

Post some updates of your project!

Thanx! Wish I could just get it sorted and running before summer hits our shores...

The plan was to get it done for January this year, but that didn't happen. :(
    Almost there! :D
