Oh one more thing, I don't remember what motogadget calls it but they have a tiny little turn signal flasher relay that replaces the huge block style our bikes come stock with......you'll need all the extra room you can get.....trust me. ;)
Check in to the motogadget RFID ignition.....that's what I used to get around the ignition key problem. And while your at it get an EBR racing fuel filler cap.....that way you would need keys anymore. That's what I did. Good luck man!!

@ buell 4 me: Cool, man. Thanks! This is the stuff that makes it all happen.
Looking to revive this thread. What did you use as a new cluster? Does somebody have the electrical schematic in order to use the RFID ignition?
The regular service manual has the wiring diagram, and the ignition is simple, on/off is all you need. Whatever RFID you get will have that function and even a start button you can add somewhere cool.
They're pretty cheap to play with:

It'll be hard to "re-locate" the stock keyed ignition because it includes the steering lock mechanism, and is all cast into the head piece. If you want to keep a keyed ignition, one off a Sportster is easy:
