Thread: Celeste: My 2009 Firebolt XB12R (A History)

  1. #1
I just finished installing my Micron exhaust 2 Fridays ago (with a TON of help from wolfo68). Instead of creating a bunch of different threads when I do something to the bike, I thought I would just start a build/history thread that I can update as I go. Don't expect anything too crazy though. As much as I'd love to create some bad ass, built, turbo, totally custom bike, it probably won't get that far. I've definitely got the mod bug, but I have two bikes already that are always taking my money, the fiance wants a bike to start learning on, we'll be buying a house soon, and well I just don't have a ton of skills to create some of the awesome stuff I've seen some people do to these bikes.

I've been trying to think of a good name for her since I bought her. I never had anything stand out in my mind that I thought would sound good. So, I did a little looking around at names on the interwebs and thought I'd try to find something that tied in with Buell, the mythological Pegasus or deities, super heroes/villains, or just the way I feel about the bike in general. Couldn't find anything fitting there so I ended up looking up stuff about the colors of the bike (arctic white/hero blue). Found something interesting when looking up some information on the color blue and found it very fitting. The name is a feminine form of the name CAELESTIS, which means: "of the sky, heavenly." I thought it fit really well with the whole Pegasus and the white and blue colors of the bike. Then I looked up specifically the feminine version of the name and I found somewhere that said it meant the sky. The place I found it showed a light, sky blue as the color Celeste. I like the name and think it fits the bike really well.

So let me formally introduce Celeste:

The day I picked her up from Gail's Harley Davidson/Buell in Grandview, Missouri. I bought her during the fire sale as a left over 2009 with 9 miles on the odometer.

For my buying experience with Gail's and my intro thread when I came to the forum: Buying Experience At Gail's HD/Intro Thread

One of the first rides with her and the (now) fiance, Victoria:

Tempted by the dark side and ended up hanging with the enemy:

Locked up at work and not able to ride: I had recently done the breather re-route as well so I snapped some pics at work one day. It was an absolutely beautiful day out and I was stuck at work dying to ride. I work in a controlled area on base so we are inside locked fences all day. I wanted to get some pics of the way I was feeling, like I was trapped behind bars!

And some pics of the (then) new breather re-route and catch can.

Remnants of the Buell porn thread:

Completing a Buell Picture Challenge for the forum: Take a virgin rider on their first motorcycle ride. Victoria's sister Erica had never been on a motorcycle so we went for a quick sprint to the interstate and back.

Took a couple good sweeping, round entrance ramps and took her up to 100 mph for a few seconds. Stopped at a school and snapped some pics for some proof.

    She had a blast!

Celeste making a new friend. Met up with 1badtitan, from the forum, when he had his '07 XB12S.

First time at the strip club: :p

I don't know what's worse, my horrible launches (It was my first time on a track. I did NOT want to loop it.) or my cheaply hired photographer’s lack of photog skills! :p

    Some random shots:

When she got much more comfortable to ride!

Got her some stick on tattoos last summer.

A look at things to come…Finally 2 years after this pic was taken.

A shot of her with Victoria from last summer.

And finally, some stripped down, naked shots while installing the new easier breathing intake and exhaust.

And a shot of her older sister (2008 Honda CBR 600RR) and the similar state that she is in still!

And after getting her all dressed back up with her new Pipercross air filter, ASB air box delete, and a brand new (never installed before) ceramic coated Micron exhaust.

    First start up:

So, that is where she's at up to today. wolfo68 and I tried getting it tuned last Friday and now it won’t start, and neither of us had enough time to work with it and get it figured out that night. Once we get that ironed out and she is running again, I’ll take her out and get some better pictures and a better video of the exhaust.
