This is a very good and interesting read!

This Is Your Brain On Motorcycle

A couple of parts I found interesting:
Scientists believe that the extra concentration needed to successfully operate a motorcycle can contribute to higher general levels of brain function, and it’s that increase in activity that’s surely a contributing factor to the appeal of the motorcycles as transportation. It’s the way a ride on a bike turns the simplest journey into a challenge to the senses that sets the motorcyclist apart from the everyday commuter. While the typical car-owning motorist is just transporting him or her self from point A to point B, the motorcyclist is actually transported into an entirely different state of consciousness .
And, it helps explain why cagers are always out trying to kill us... :p
“The brain devotes more cortical real estate to functions that its owner uses more frequently and shrinks the space devoted to activities rarely performed,” Begley wrote. “That’s why the brains of violinists devote more space to the region that controls the digits of the fingering hand.”
Everyone uses their cell phone way more than driving a car (AND, while driving their car). They are literally shrinking the part of their brain that holds the basic skills for driving and growing the part of the brain that works the phone!! That's why these clowns can't even drive when they aren't on their phones. Makes perfect sense now!

Seriously though, when I started riding I felt like it made me a MUCH better and more aware driver in my cage, and I considered myself to be a good and aware driver before I started riding even.

Totally agree. Riding has made me 10x more aware of my surroundings while driving my truck.

it was my time as a turret gunner in iraq that made me a more aware rider and that led to me being a more aware driver. and i agree with you all as well.
