Hi!
Been thinking about getting a bike for a while. I have only ridden once before, and thinking about a bike for my wife and I to learn on, and see if we like riding.
There is a 2000 Blast for sale at the end of my street I cant stop thinking about.
The bike has 4400 miles on it and has been sitting for 3 years. It will not start, but it does crank over and I can hear compression. The seller is the second owner, he stopped riding it because of a back injury and put it away in the garage. It ran when he parked it he says. It is totally stock.
He has service manual and parts manual for it, and is asking $650.
I am pretty handy with engines/ mechanical stuff.
Am I crazy, or might this be a good intro bike? I am willing to put some time into getting it running, but I don't want a headache either.

Well normally I would tell you just go to an xb but if you and your wife want to start riding. For 650 I mean that would be a wonderful bike for learning but you'll learn that you'll get bored with it quick. Maybe so you then your wife i dont know. But blasts are easy to work on and parts aren't hard to find. At least compared to my buell which they made 3000 of. But ya it may be something as simple as a spark plug it's it turns over and has compression. I say go for it!!
**** for $650 I'd buy it all day long to flip if its easy fix... I got a blast once with a broken motormount bolt. For $200 fixed the bolt and flipped it for $1500

Took it home for $550.
Drained gas.
New plug.
New battery.
It runs and drives!

change that primary oil!
change the oil and the oil filter ride and enjoy you got a steal of a deal congrats :)
thats a sweet deal man! I dont need a blast at all, but I'd sure buy one for that price! have fun with it!!!
Changed the oil and filter after the first couple trips around the block.
The speedo doesn't work. I haven't looked into it at all, any suggestions?
It is an easy bike to learn on, i've been having a blast! bad pun.
The wife laid it down on her second turn, but she got up and kept on going. I do need to replace the front left blinker now. Where can I find one?
