They didn't have my year or model manual so I had to download 2003xb9R and 2005xb9-12R. While I have a 2004 xb12s. And I ordered a cable last night, should be here Thursday.
Guess I'm just gonna look everything over and use my tester light

What and where is the dongle, and what type of ends do you have on that wire?
Sorry if there stupid questions!
Also once I put it in the dongle, do I turn the key on to start? I have never done thos
I used my tester light and the wire going to my fuel pump is gettin power.
Then on all the connectors behind the pulley cover, I'm only gettin power to the big connector with the big red and black wires. The other connectors I don't have any power.
My headlight is not getting any power. Nor is my kill switch or starter button.
Guess I'm gonna pull my complete air box off so I can check my main wiring harness, near my front cylinder. This sux
Wiring harness is fine. Don't know what else to do. Guess ill wait to hear about the dongle thing.
dongle is on the right side under the seat next to the battery/ecm, it's a grey connector held in place with velcro. have heard guys using paper clips, screwdrivers to bridge the pins. key is on, do not start the bike. researching the wiring diagram
I had a feeling that was the dongle I made the wire you showed me and no cel light. There's 4 prongs in the dongle Idk which is 1,2,3 or 4 pin. I tried all of them and got no cel light.
And you don't have to worry about the bike running, that's my entire problem. The fuel pump won't turn on neither will the starter button
Well I just tried my stock ECM and still nothing.
Ok - go study section 4.5 of the Firebolt service manual you downloaded - it is page 277 when i let it default view size to 120%. It has a good explanation of making and using a test wire to jump pins 1-2 and what to watch for on the CEL. It has a picture of looking into the 'dongle' and which pin is which (figure 4.7).
Do you have a neutral light showing? If not - pull in the clutch lever..
