2000 blast, Vance exhaust, custom intake, ir plug, 91 octane... 48mpg city driving... I weigh 180lbs and am a somewhat spirited driver.... Mods were done when I purchased the bike.
I am not sure what my jets are but I know what they should be thanks to the info here:)
I am assuming they are rich or my needle may be spaced to high...
    Any thoughts or comparisons?
I have owned the bike for 3 weeks now, have been through just about everything but the carb. Its my next project( I am kinda meticulous with my toys)..

A bone stock Blast will get about 60mpg with real-world riding. If you really baby it, you can see 70mpg. The more mods you do, the lower your mpg drops. 48mpg for your mods and some "spirited" riding sounds normal.

What intake do you have exactly?

If you did, you were running very very lean.

Intake is a k&n bolted directly to the carb, small adapter holds it on. I did double check my mix screw and it was only 1.5 turns out, bumped it out to 2.75.. will see if that helps the slight hesitation off throttle..

got around to checking the jets, pilot 44 main 170 and the needle was shimmed at .069.. dropped the shim to .047 but i do think i may need to bump the main to 175 from reading everywhere.. bikes runs tons better after re shimming, got rid of the sluggish acceleration. will be checking fuel econ this week when i fill it up.

45/175 and shim as close to .050" as possible (.047" is fine).

That's the magic combination until you start going wild and cam swap.
