Thread: Straight pipe back fire

  1. #1
So I've been restoring a few old bikes in my free time lately and I picked up a 2002 buell blast for what I thought was a steal but I am quickly finding out why I got it so cheaply, the previous owner removed the stock exhaust and put on a straight pipe, well I cant get it two miles down the highway at 65 without it backfiring like crazy, I drilled a hole in the straight pipe and put a fairly large bolt in it with two nuts to try to get some back pressure in the straight pipe but it still backfires, I have read every forum on here about jetting the carb but I'm not sure if thats the route i want to go, I would prefer to put a stock exhaust back on it howevery they get pretty pricey and hard to find, also if someone could link me to a pdf service manual that would be great,

    thanks
