Clutch removal

I am in the process of helping my neighbor replace his stator on his 2001 buell blast. All parts off except for clutch assembly. The inner nut spins but so does the clutch, can't break it loose. Bike is in first gear, using a cheater bar to hold gears from spinning an foot on rear brake. Anymore tips to stop clutch from spinning?

A 4 1/2" bar of steel across the gears holds em in place, clutch is reverse thread.
