nice work.
awesome!
Thanks for that
Brilliant and well thought out.
ok so gonna sound like a dummy on this one (possibly no more than normal) but what exactly does this kit repair / prevent? Could some one link to a thread or explain the damage and its cause as I am all at sea on this one....
Just want to understand if this is some thing I should be doing while the bike is off the road as it looks a fair priced kit.
There's no such thing as a stupid question...only foolish, unnecessary questions! ;)
The Buell XB Model Primary Covers seem to have a week spot where the clutch ramp assembly rests...behind the inspection cover. Attached are some pictures that will hopefully show you what we're talking about.
After time, the lip that's part of the primary cover casting breaks due to the stress put upon it...usually when the clutch is being adjusted but it has been known to happen while you're shifting. When it breaks you will lose clutch. Hope this helps, please feel free to add anything I missed everyone!
Here's another view of the broken lip...
How or what are you using to install the cover after the kit has been installed? also, what aluminum are you using as "aircraft quality aluminum"...being an aircraft mechanic myself, this peaks my interest to know.
7071 t6 grade aluminum
Thrstrmech: if you are referring to the inspection cover and it's screws, we recommend checking to make sure the screws aren't too long after the new ramp assembly plate is installed...sanding their length down a little maybe necessary. Hope this helps!
