Thread: Tail lift seat locking question...

  1. #1
I just installed the Diesel Moto tail lift and I love the look but I cannot get the seat to lock. Anybody else have this issue?

No. Seemed to work fine for me when I installed it. Try a little more pressure.

Actually just found a thread stating that it just takes a little extra force the first few times then it gets easier.

    Correct, just extra force.

Still not getting to lock, even with the extra force. Any hints otherwise?

Ive read that some people had to head up the belly pan of the seat with a heat gun then use a ratchet strap to tighten it and hold it for a couple hours to give it a slight bend in the seat to fit the new angle. but Im not too sure. I've also read that some people had some luck putting a washer under the locking hooks in the seat and that helped them.

For me in was just some extra force and leaving on the bike for a couple days before taking it off again. leaving it in the hot summer weather I'm sure helped the plastic take form. it works easily now.

What gtp3800 said. Heatgun and a ratchet-strap. Been the solution for many. Good luck! :)

Once you push the seat into place it takes a sharp force downward on the very back part of the seat. Look where the locking mechanism is under the seat and that should be the point that once its installed needs one final heave to get it to lock. It isn't a forward motion like installing the seat though its definitely more downward.

When I look at the locking mechanism, it looks like the seat latch is about 1/2" away from it. I will succeed one way or another....Thanks all.
