Avent bottles are probably the best out there, hopefully your wife breast feeds over formula, that's where it really gets expensive. breast milk can be stocked up and frozen, later thawed with hot water running over it or placed in a cup or glass of hot water...always check the temp before giving it to the kid. Diapers are the next expensive item, you'll just have to figure out which works best for you. most things you'll need will come during the baby shower if your wife hasn't already done that.
I'm no expert, just experienced from my three kids, now 18,13, and 11 yrs old. good luck and best wishes to you and yours.

Speaking of thawing frozen milk...For warming up refrigerated milk:

Put water in microwave-safe plastic container
Put in microwave for 2* minutes
Put bottle in water to warm up
Monitor temperature so it doesn't get too hot, only takes a minute or two.
*1 minute if you're heating milk in a freezer bag.

Someone showed me this and it's so much faster than waiting for the sink faucet to get hot.

Thanks guys; bottles & milk are probably one of the most overwhelming topics for me right now so the advice is appreciated. Back when I was a baby, I'm told my parents would slip a nip of scotch into my milk at bedtime to knock me out. I'm guessing that would be frowned upon these days? :D

If I can tell she's tired and is just being fussy, I'll slip her some liquid tylenol and she's out for a couple hours.
