Thread: Removing Stains from Frame

  1. #1
    Hi all.

I have stains on the frame of my 12R. They appear to be from oil or fuel. Dawn dish soap won't touch them. Any thoughts? Would some mild rubbing compound, like one of Maguire's varieties be in order? Thanks.

3M makes a great buffing compound that may work as well as Maguire's, hard to say if it will do anything at all to blend it in. You may have to just get some frame paint and touch the area up. ASB (americansportbike.com) has the paint.

Careful with what you use on the frame. I had gas/oil stains on my frame, tried cleaning, ended up fading the powder coat.
But my mistake was I used a rag that previously had been used with metal polish to clean my headers. Didn't realize it was on the rag...
