I have been a member for a while but had to create a new account.
I am looking for help with the following questions(all questions are in regards to a 2006 xb12r).
1. Do you guys know what graded of oil to use in the front forks?
2. also does any one have a link or list of part numbers for everything need in a clutch replacement job?
Thanks
Type E fork oil or 10 weight is stock
what cosworth said. 10 wt. or 7.5 for colder climates. 16 US ounces per fork from full dry drain.
clutch--you'll need the seal, washer, the friction plates, the drive plates, new diaphragm spring (suggested) and spring compression tool to do the job. energy one makes a complete kit and their compression tool is a fraction of the price of the H-D tool but have heard complaints about the drive plates in their kit. any H-D dealer can get you the friction and drive plates if you want to go that route.
Do i have to change the gasket on the transfer case?
Primary cover gasket? If you can get it off in good shape ive reused them before, kinda depends how old it is.
The old school fluid for both your questions 1 & 2 (guaranteed to illicit shock & horror from oil label whores) is just plain old ATF in both the forks & primary.
We can get you the Energy 1 Clutch kit if you're interested. HERE it is on our site. We can get it with the tool as well for another $50 or so (but we'll have to check on that for you.) Let us know if we can help.
