Ive been reading up on the clunky 1125 starters but never saw a fix etc. Every now and then it will start turning over then clunk a few times and show system voltage and stop turning over all together. The battery is brand new 220cca and the chargning system is always 13.9-14.1 so I dont see it being a low battery/charging issue.
Trying to find out if there is a solution or if it just happens in which case ill live with it, just a little embarrasing to go to crank up and the bike sounds like somethings inside beating on things with a ball peen.
Maybe a starter solenoid??
I was thinking starter solenoid because its almost as if the entire starting system is disengaging, unless the bike stops on a down stroke this always happens. I thought it was related to the loose stator nut but apparently not or intermitent at best.
I guess my first course of action, is to jump the solenoid poles and see if that makes starting any smoother
