Look at air hog seat cushions. They are pretty comfy.
A few weeks ago I slipped on some wooden steps as I was leaving for work and may have broken my tailbone. I say may have because the x rays weren't definitive and the treatment for a broken tailbone is the same for a tailbone that is just hurt.... NOTHING. Nothing can be done other than pain meds. The big problem is that it is still very painful 3 weeks later with little signs of improvement. I have been able to ride some but mostly short trips back and forth to work but they are very painful rides. I'm not going to let my bike sit for months waiting on my tailbone to stop hurting so I need to find a way to make my ride a little more comfortable. I have an 03 9SL with a seat from later model S. Any one have any suggestions?

Meant airhawk. My bad.
airhawk
took me about 3-4 months to get over it when I hurt mine
Man!! That sucks!!! I hope for a speedy healing time for you!! :)
Only a suggestion....maybe find a 'spare' seat....maybe one that needs recovered or something anyways might even be cheaper? Then get a local car/furniture upholstery guy re-do it with some nice thick soft foam. It might look a little goofy, but who cares if you can ride more comfortable?!

I was looking at Airhawks page, it is hard to tell which one would be ideal for the lightning. Under the Buell header they only list x1 lightning's, not xb.... Would it be the same¿ not familiar with the x1.
I thought about reupholstering a junk seat but not really finding anything available.
Bicycle riding shorts under your normal riding gear. They have butt padding. I wear them that way on my road bicycle. Makes a big difference.
I dont have a airhawk yet. Couple of my buddies do and they love it. It raising your seat height about 1/2 inch. I was looking at the airhawk 2 for my 04 lightning 12S. It measures 9"X11". Figured that would suit me just fine.
That'll feel good then you hit an unexpected bump.
